Meet the Presenter: Quint Studer
Quint Studer arrived in Pensacola on June 9, 1996, to be the president of Baptist Hospital. Studer had a reputation for turning hospitals around. His focus helped lead Baptist to top performance in employee engagement, patient experience, and physician relations which led to Baptist receiving national recognition. This led to requests from hospitals throughout the country requesting Studer’s assistance in improving performance. In January of 2000, the Studer Group was founded. Studer Group quickly grew in the United States and Australia. In addition to healthcare, Quint helped expand into education with Studer Education. In 2015, Studer sold the company to Huron, and he departed in 2016. Due to requests, in 2022, Healthcare Plus Solutions Group was formed and is based in Pensacola.
In 2005 Studer formed a relationship with the Gallup Corporation and learned of the largest study Gallup had ever done regarding economic development called Soul of the City. The study researched why some communities thrive and some do not. Using the study as a template, Studer and many others embarked on revitalizing Pensacola. The Studer’s have invested over one hundred million dollars in Pensacola. An affiliated minor league baseball team was brought to Pensacola, The Blue Wahoos, and the creation of the Community Maritime Park. The Studer’s have built and/or revitalized many buildings in the Pensacola community; The Bodacious Shops, The Artison, 5elelan at Palafox and Main Street, the Urban core office building and restaurant, Southtowne Apartments, Maritime Place office building, SCI building, revitalization and the start of the five sister’s restaurant, Devilliers Square offices, the Savoy apartments, and the Oyster Bay Hotel.
The Studer’s have donated over twenty million dollars to a variety of not-for-profit organizations. The two largest donations led to the building of a new children’s hospital and a new Downtown Y. Other major gifts have been made to IHMC, the University of West Florida, and Baptist Healthcare as well as many other not-for-profits.
The Studer’s founded the Studer Community Institute in 2014. The institute's focus is to help build baby’s brains and build jobs in the area. The Center of Civic Engagement was also founded and presents a lecture series called CivicCon.
Studer has written sixteen books and writes a weekly column in the Pensacola News Journal.
